A/G was founded in 1956 in Atlanta, Georgia, specializing
in developing and building metal forming equipment adaptable
to a wide variety of industries. It is a complete in-house
operation, from conceptual design, machining, electrical controls
and final assembly .
The tradition started in the late 1800's when Charles G. Grotnes
came to this country from Norway and established a company
in Chicago, Illinois. Carl C. Grotnes followed his father
and together developed machines for the cooperage and automotive
wheel-rim industry pioneering in forming metal parts by rolling,
expanding and shrinking ,
Their company was sold in 1947 but the tradition of designing
and building innovative machines is carried on by the fourth
generation, Carl C. Grotnes II as president of Atlanta Grotnes
